PROJECT
On July 29–30, 2026, the African Extractivism and the Green Transition (AEGT) research partnership was represented at HakiRasilimali's Critical Minerals Research Symposium by Tanzania Country Manager Dr. Japhace Poncian, Co-Investigator Dr. Abel Kinyondo, and Doctoral Researcher Mwalusamba Samson. The team presented their ongoing research on small-scale copper production and the linkages between artisanal and large-scale mining in Tanzania to a diverse audience of stakeholders, including government officials, civil society organizations, and international development partners.
The symposium provided an excellent platform for engaging discussions on the opportunities and challenges associated with critical minerals in Tanzania.
