Janvier KILOSHO BURAYE is a full-time professor and the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management at the Université Catholique de Bukavu (Catholic University of Bukavu) and the Chief of the department of Business and Administration at the Institut Supérieur Pédagogique de Bukavu (ISP/Bukavu). He is a socio-economist, specialising in development economics and development studies. Since 2008, his research has focused on the socio-economics of artisanal mining, with an emphasis on the livelihoods of artisanal miners, conflict between large scale mining and artisanal and small scale mining, certification and traceability mechanisms in particular and on governance of natural resources in general in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). His recent research focuses on fiscal linkages and public good and public services delivery in rural areas in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. For more than a decade he has been involved in impact evaluation of development interventions and in value chain analysis.
