PROJECT
Japhace Poncian is a senior lecturer in Development Studies and Politics at Mkwawa University College of Education (MUCE), a Constituent College of the University of Dar es Salaam. He also serves as Head Department of History, Political Science and Development Studies in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at MUCE. He holds a PhD (Politics) from the University of Newcastle (Australia), an MA Global Development and Africa from the University of Leeds (UK) and a BA with Education (History and Geography) from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He researches community engagement in governance processes, extractive resources politics, energy politics and political economy of development. He has an emerging record of collaborative research on resource nationalism, renewable energy and green transitions with researchers from southern Africa, Canada and Denmark. His research has appeared in reputable outlets including Review of African Political Economy, Journal of Southern African Studies, Energy Research and Social Science, Resource Policy, Extractive Industries and Society, Political Geography, Development Studies Research, Energy Policy, Local Government Studies, The African Review and Contemporary Justice Review.
