PROJECT
Paul holds a MSc Mining Engineering and BSc (Hons) in Mining Engineering from the University of Zimbabwe and is currently pursuing a PhD in Mining Engineering, with a focus on responsible sourcing in mineral supply chains. His research has focused on responsible mining practices in gold and critical minerals, particularly within Zimbabwe’s burgeoning lithium sector; an area critical to the continent’s green energy transition.
With over seven years of experience in the mining industry, including more than five years dedicated to promoting sustainable and efficient artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM), Paul has developed expertise in mining research and innovation, governance and policy, and rock mechanics. As an engineer, researcher, and passionate advocate for responsible mining, he is deeply committed to increasing women’s participation in the sector.
Paul has also contributed significantly as a trainer, working with the Zimbabwe School of Mines, Gwanda State University and University of Zimbabwe for over three years. Since 2018,he has provided valuable technical advisory support to ASM through various organizations, including civil society groups. His work aligns closely with the goals of the African Extractives and Green Transition Project, driving sustainable, inclusive, and responsible mining practices across the continent.
