PROJECT
Dr Murombo is a Professor of Law at Wits University and former Director of the Mandela Institute of Law. He hold the degrees of PhD in Law (Wits), LLM Human Rights (UCT), LLM Environmental Law (Pace) and LLB (Hons) (Zimbabwe).
He is admitted to practice, and has practiced, as a legal practitioner, notary, and conveyancer. Prof Murombo is a renowned NRF rated expert in environmental law, international environmental law, climate change and energy law, law and sustainability, the extractives industry and corporate accountability, public participation, law and regulation, water law and governance. He is a former member of the Water Tribunal of South Africa. He is a Beit Fellow, Fulbright Scholar, and member of the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law (WCEL) and its Working Group of Climate Change and Energy. He sits on the editorial board of the Journal of African Law and is a member of the Environmental Law Association (ELA), South Africa. In 2000 he co-founded and chairs the board of the Zimbabwe Environmental Law Association (ZELA), a premier public interest environmental law organisation.
